Students will need to purchase "Piano Adventures Primer Level" by Nancy and Randall Faber. It can be found on several online retailers and in person at most local music stores. Students will also need a keyboard or a piano to practice and play on.

Although we do not meet live, this FLEX course promotes active student engagement through guided video walkthroughs of each unit, recordings, and worksheets. Students will upload their completed worksheets for a comprehension check, and will also be able to "perform" each week by sharing a video or recording of themselves playing the practice songs for that week showing their progress!

By the end of this course, students will be able to masterfully play many songs on the piano and will be ready to advance in their piano performance instruction and skills. This is a fantastic and affordable way to start learning the piano and spark the creativity in each student's mind.

Playing the piano is a skill no person ever regrets learning as a child - it is a fantastic way to introduce your child to music! Music ignites all areas of the brain and promotes positive growth in all areas of adolescent development! Below is an outline of what we will be learning each week:

Week 1: Introduction to Playing - posture, finger position, finger numbers, the black keys

Week 2: Basic Rhythms - quarter notes, half notes, whole notes

Week 3: Key Names - the music alphabet - ABCDEFG
