How will you teach?
* I teach using a Student-Centered Approach to Learning, where both the teacher and student(s) have an equally active role in the learning process. This type of teaching also supports Inquiry-Based Learning and Cooperative Learning.

* My teaching style is very supportive and nurturing. I encourage and support: discovery, curiosity, creativity and project-based learning.

How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)?
* Learners will be able to interact with me during the entire length (1 hour) of the class. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and share thoughts. Interaction will take place during class discussion, online games, a slide presentation and educational videos.

* No prior knowledge of these topics is needed. My hope is that all who participate learn and have fun!
Learning Goals
My learning goals, based on Bloom's Taxonomy, include the following:
* Be able to remember and understand general definitions of cybersecurity and Internet Safety
* Be able to understand and apply examples of cybersecurity and Internet Safety
* Apply newly learned knowledge to successfully complete an online, interactive cybersecurity and Internet Safety challenge
* Understand how Online Safety, Information Privacy, Social Networks, Family Internet Filters and Privacy Policies help strengthen cybersecurity & Internet Safety
* Be able to create and apply strong passwords that protect Internet accounts

Parental Guidance
Parental Guidance Statement Here is a detailed list of third-party tools that will be used with this class: * Google Slides - I will be presenting an informative slide show for this class using this resource. Students will also be participating in a Password Challenge game that was created using this resource. No student account is necessary for this resource. This resource will be used as a screen-share tool and as a link given to students so they can interact with the password game. This game will also be provided on a Resources List .pdf file that will be e-mailed to the student, upon conclusion of the class. This resource is approved by Outschool. * ABCya! - This resource will be used to access an interactive Internet Safety game. No student account is necessary for this resource, however, if a student is using a smartphone or tablet, they will need to have the ABCya app via Google Play or the Mac App Store. Students will be given the link to the resource during class and will interact with this game. This resource is approved by Outschool. * Nearpod - This resource will be used to access a Cybersecurity and Internet Safety Challenge game. Students do not need an account, they will, however, be given a Student-Paced lesson (challenge game) where they will need to type in their initials to begin the activity. Students will be provided with links. This resource is approved by Outschool, although, a "Parental consent is required for this resource" message is present. This resource, related to the game, will also be provided on a Resources List .pdf file that will be e-mailed to the student, upon conclusion of the class, via the Outschool Platform. * Google - This resource is part of Google's vast collection of Internet Safety resources. Students will take part in an interactive game and will be shown Google's Be Internet Awesome Pledge. This particular game, called Interland, will focus on digital safety and citizenship. No student account is necessary to play this activity. Students will be given a link to access this website during class so they can participate in this online adventure. Interland has been awarded the Seal of Alignment, https://www.iste.org/standards/iste-seal-of-alignment, by ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education). Outschool does display a "Parental consent is required for this resource" message for this particular source. Both resources, the game and pledge, will also be provided on a Resources List .pdf file that will be e-mailed to the student, upon conclusion of the class, via the Outschool Platform. * Youtube - This resource will be used to present informative educational videos related to Cybersecurity and Internet Safety. No student account is necessary for this resource. This resource will also only be used as a screen-share tool. This resource is approved by Outschool. * Smore - This resource will be used as an online newsletter that will allow for the presentation of initial introductions and greetings, class rules, Zoom pointers, and other pertinent links (to a Nearpod survey and a Google Slide presentation).
