Description
Class Experience
This class will meet once per week for a series of 8 weeks. Students will learn topics like the alphabet, numbers (0-100), family/pronouns, greetings/questions, time, common verbs, foods, and animals. This course will be taught as a lecture with discussion following with some interactive activities like stories, games, and songs. By the end of this course, students will be able to: *fingerspell words *communicate common signs *converse fluently in ASL for at least one minute *develop an awareness for the deaf/hard of hearing community
I have a Master's degree in STEM Education and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-6). Also, I have a Trauma Sensitive Educator certification and an Apple Teacher certification. I am also an assistant leader for 4-H and have been teaching for four years. I am using my knowledge from completing two college courses on American Sign Language and communicating with family members.
Practice the vocabulary learned for that week daily for about 10 minutes. We will do a quick refresher before we start the new lesson.
No supplies are necessary.
