ASL for Beginners

This class will meet once per week for a series of 8 weeks. Students will learn topics like the alphabet, numbers (0-100), family/pronouns, greetings/questions, time, common verbs, foods, and animals. This course will be taught as a lecture with discussion following with some interactive activities like stories, games, and songs. My teaching style embraces the Multiple Intelligences Theory and Social Learning Theory, where each student learns differently and learns from observing others or by doing. I hope students will gain the passion for learning a new language and breaking a language with barrier with me. Also, my goal is for students to develop a sense of awareness for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing culture and will continue to grow their open mindset and communicate with people who are different than them. No experience or knowledge is necessary...just an open mindset and willingness to participate since this class is full of discussions. 
Each week will follow the same routine/schedule:
1. Introduction
2. Refresher of previous week's vocabulary
3. Learn new vocabulary (lecture and discussion)
4. Engaging activity (game, song, story, etc)

Week 1-February 3: Alphabet

Week 2-February 10: Numbers (0-100)

Week 3-February 17: Family/Pronouns

Week 4-February 24: Greetings/Questions

Week 5-March 3: Time

Week 6-March 10: Common Verbs

Week 7-March 17: Foods 

Week 8-March 24: Animals
