String Painting: Students will create a painting with paint and string. My aim is for students to explore art and have fun without focusing on making it perfect, as art is about exploration. Supplies needed will be drawing paper, acrylic paint, paint cups, cotton string, scissors, craft sticks, and an area where things can get messy. When students sign up they will be given a short video will be to watch in order explain the different materials needed. Students will have the option of posting their artwork in the classroom and for others to see the various designs each artist created. This class is the first class in my art lab series classes. The Art Lab series will be exploring different art mediums and is designed for students who want to learn different styles of art and want to explore and to use your imagination and explore creating art. These classes can be taken as a one time class or I have an ongoing class where we rotate through the art lessons. I have provided the link below if you are interested. Welcome! My name is Debbie and I am a certified teacher with a Bachelors of Science in Education with a concentration in the visual arts. I also hold Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on math and science. I have been lucky enough throughout my career to have taught grades K through 6 and be a math and reading interventionist. Math is one of my favorite subjects to teach and I love thinking of creative ways to get students to love it too and gain confidence.
I primarily teach math classes most popular class is my 1:1 math tutoring class, but I have expanded my classes recently to include art classes as well as thematic science classes for first, second, third and fourth grades.
