Class Experience

Beginner Level
In this ongoing art class, we will delve into the fascinating evolution of art history, where you will explore the works of renowned masters and contemporary artists alike. This course offers a unique opportunity to learn about the stories and techniques of influential artists and art periods, providing context and inspiration for your own creative journey. As you study well known masterpieces, you will have the chance to create your own unique artworks, drawing from the styles and methods of those who came before you. 

In this class, you will deepen your understanding of art, enhance your skills, and unleash your creativity in a supportive and collaborative environment that fosters artistic growth.

The pace of our class will be based on the student’s abilities, so we will go slower or faster depending on how we are doing together. 

Their is no experience needed for this class!

Prehistoric Art- Cave Art 
Ancient Egypt- Egyptian Head 
Ancient Greece- Ancient Greek Vase
Ancient Rome- Ancient Roman Style Paper Mosaics- Ships
Ancient Chinese Art- Traditional Chinese Fan
Ancient Indian Art- Madhubani Art
Pre-Columbian Art- Aztec Sun Symbol
Medieval Art- Stained Glass Windows

Learning Goals

Students will learn and understand that art is created in many different cultures, and that each culture has its own unique artistic traditions.
Students will be able to describe and interpret the subject matter, style, and meaning of different artworks.

Other Details

Learning Needs
Unique learning needs will be supported by the following: Simple instructions that break down drawing tasks into clear steps, Use of Visual aids, Offer alternative choices for the subject, Provide break time, and Positive Reinforcement.
Supply List
In this on-going class their will be a variety of art supplies that we will be using for each lesson. It's helpful to have general art supplies on hand for each class such as paper, pencil/eraser, scissors, ruler, color pencils, pastels, crayons, markers, watercolor (palette, paintbrushes, cup of water, paper towels). 

I will keep everyone updated on the classroom announcement page for the supplies for each upcoming class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have worked with children for 12 years. I have my Bachelors in Fine Arts and Art History and I have my Certificate of Eligibility in Art (K-12). I am currently a Special Education Paraprofessional at an Elementary school.
