Art Class: Three New Techniques for Drawing and Sketching

In this 3-week class, we will meet once a week to discuss three different types of sketching/drawing: gesture drawing, continuous line drawing and blind contour drawing.  This class is great for beginners and non-beginners--anyone who would like to find new ways to improve their drawing skills.

We will cover:
Week 1: Gesture Drawing
Week 2: Continuous Line Drawing
Week 3: Blind Contour Drawing

Students will need a sketchbook, pencil and eraser.

We will practice by drawing images that I will share via slideshow in screenshare with Zoom.

The flow of the class will be:
Introductions
Students can share their completed drawings from the previous week
We will discuss the drawing style and I will show examples
Practice the style
Show what they have completed in class
Goodbyes

Students will complete one or more drawings of the style that we discussed in class before the next meeting.  Assignments for the last class can be shared via classroom comment.  While students need to be respectful and listen to the lecture, they are encouraged to chat and socialize while they draw, if they wish.
