Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This course is perfect for preschool, kindergarten, and ESL students! Each week we will learn about a new animal using science, math, reading, writing, and phonics. There will be no live meetings for this class. Students will complete the course at their own pace. However, the instructor will be available to answer all questions through the classroom.
**2 breaks are built into this course for students to catch up or take a break for family vacations.

What to expect each week:
In this 8-week course, learners will learn about a different animal each week. Videos, songs, games, and crafts will be used to present learning material for the animal of the week. Learners can interact with the teacher and other learners by posting weekly show-and-tell objects related to the animals we learn each week. Posting is optional. Links to interactive games and videos that relate to each animal will be provided each week. Worksheets for handwriting practice and enrichment will also be posted weekly. Each lesson will be available on the start day of the course.

No prior with English is necessary to attend this class. ESL learners are welcome!

For each lesson there will be two posts:
Post 1: Introduction to the animal, its habitat, what it eats with a fun, short, informative video. A link to a fictional children's book that has our animal of the week as a character in the story will be posted on this day as well.

Post 2: Students will review our animal of the week and the fictional children's book we read in the previous class by re-telling the main points of a story, identifying characters, identifying problems, and resolutions. Students will practice writing the letter of the alphabet in which the animal of the week begins. Students will read simple sentences about our animals. Possible math components included in this class might be: identifying and writing numbers and colors, counting, patterns, and shapes using our animal of the week.

Hope to see you in class soon!

Hello! My name is Teacher Rachel! I've been teaching for over 23 years: 3 years as an Elementary School teacher (K-2), 15 years as a homeschool teacher teaching ALL subjects, and over 5 years as an online ESL teacher for ages 3-18 with students from China, Vietnam, the Czech Republic, Thailand and Canada! I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education as well as a TESOL certificate to teach ESL students. I enjoy teaching reading, phonics, vocabulary, and all things rabbits! I believe it's important to have fun while learning so many of my classes include interactive games and toys that are used to make learning meaningful. I enjoy making my students laugh so that they are comfortable interacting with each other during our lessons together. I welcome all young learners, as well as ESL learners, to any of my classes! I own 5 rabbits as pets and enjoy sharing them with my students! I look forward to having your child in class very soon!
