In this course, students will learn how to use their hands and facial expressions to communicate with others. Its amazing being able to have a conversation with others using your hands. We will start off by going over our alphabet, practice spelling our names, and few simple words. We will go over this a few times throughout the lesson. We will also learn a few everyday signs. The students will learn different family, feelings, food, and request signs. Remember we want to take advantage of learning signs that we can practice everyday so we can feel comfortable and embrace the language. We will have time to practice going over the signs several times to make sure the students feel comfortable with it. I encourage all the students to feel free to ask questions and share their thoughts as we are learning.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basics of American Sign Language. We will learn our alphabet, how to spell our names, family, food, request, feeling signs. We will form sentences with the signs we have learned.
