This one-time class will explore guinea pig history, breeds, and basic care needs. If your child is a new owner or considering a guinea pig pet, they will discover lots of amazing information and build independent pet care skills.

Have you ever wondered if a guinea pig is a good pet? Not sure what is required to care for these amazing creatures? Then join this fun and interactive class to find out. Together we will explore the world of guinea pigs and the basics of their care. We'll begin with a brief history of guinea pigs and discover where they came from. By the end of class students will be able to: 1. Discuss the history of guinea pigs as pets. 2. Discuss the basic food, water, and socialization needs of guinea pigs from their owners. 3. Discuss questions to consider BEFORE getting a guinea pig to know if it is the right pet for you. 4. Practice basic presentation skills with their peers if applicable.
2 files available upon enrollmentA one-page handout with information and questions to consider will be distributed before class. This will help guide our discussion. Students may want a pencil or pen for notes if they choose.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If students wish to share a pet guinea pig with their classmates, they may require assistance from the parents. This should be determined by the parent prior to the beginning of class if possible.
