Class Experience
Algebra I is a logic and problem solving course that teaches students to think critically and follow a logical path to solve a problem. Algebra's history goes back over 4000 years and this broad area of math is a unifying thread too many areas of math, science and now technology. Algebra teachers critical thinking skills that help students grasp, organize and solve complex problems. Each lesson follows the National Course Standards for Algebra I. Homework and practice problems will be given each week.
Paper, pencil, crayons or colored pencils. I will also send worksheets and other materials out to students as needed. A headset or headphones with microphone (earbuds also work) helps to cut down on background noise and makes it easier for students to participate in class discussions.
Because of the small class size, it is possible to assess students during class to determine competency. If a student needs extra help they may be given some extra math resources to be completed before the next class.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
