US Grade Kindergarten
Welcome to Addition Practice with Ms. B. In this 4-week class, students will use math strategies to practice adding to ten. This class includes math strategies, math vocabulary and solving equations. This is a multi-day class that will meet Monday- Friday for 30 minutes. Each week we will have 1 handout per day that will needed as well as Friday Fun Day printout to play Math Scoot. Additional handout is available each week to practice our addition equations outside of class as homework as this is optional. This class is structured to interact with peers and Ms. B. I use "round table" in my class. This is where each student will work on a math problem, while peers work to solve the equation as well. Then we will review the answer and discuss how we solved the equation. I will share my screen to work through the math equations. Each day students will walk away feeling like a "math rockstar" (confidence building) Math Strategies: As a class we will discuss our strategies to solve equations. Count your fingers, draw a picture, count in your head (mental math), ten frame and number lines. Math Vocabulary: As a class we will discuss math vocabulary. Add, when you add two numbers together, you get a bigger number. Plus, the plus sign tells us to add. Equals, the equals sign helps to show the total. Equations: As a class we will discuss how to use our math strategies to solve equations such as, 3+1, 1+1, 2+5, 4+9 with our carry over. What to expect each week we meet. Hi! My name is Brienna. Students can call me Ms. B.
When the pandemic started, I knew right away that homeschooling was the journey our family would be taking. I have been homeschooling along with teaching. I began teaching when I was 18! I fell in love with teaching and showing students that they were Rockstars! (Reading Rockstar, Math Rockstar, Social Studies Rock Star). It was very important to me that learners felt that they were awesome and could rock any subject that was taught.
I have two amazing kids!! A Jr. in high school and a middle school learner. Our favorite things to do as a family is to travel and collect board games.
I am a huge advocate for special needs students. My son’s journey with Autism and ADHD taught me so much from learning about different therapies to IEP goals. I create classes so that all children with different abilities can participate and feel valued.
With my ten years’ experience, as a preschool teacher my passion is teaching children through engaging activities, while having fun. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a private tutor for Kindergarten through 6th grade.
Currently I am working towards my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and becoming a certified Curriculum Specialist. With different classroom setting experiences I had the opportunity to focus on phonics, reading, sensory activities, science experience and history. Getting children excited about learning is what drives me every day.
