Class Experience

US Grade 6
In this 6th-grade math course, the students will learn a variety of concepts based on the sixth-grade mathematics curriculum. All of these concepts promote algebraic thinking and will prepare 6th-grade students for upper-level mathematics. A variety of teaching methods will be used including but not limited to lecture, discussion, questioning, and digital learning. The students will actively participate through discussion, questioning, and digital learning. The concepts that will be covered are listed below.

Week 1
~Classify whole number numbers, integers, and rational numbers
~Locate, compare and order integers, rational numbers, and whole numbers
Week 2
~Identify a number and its opposite on the number line
~Multiplying a number by reciprocal 
~Add and subtract integers
Week 3
~Review weeks 1-2
Week 4
~Symbols of Division and Multiplication
~Multiply and Divide integers
Week 5
~Add and Subtract Rational numbers including fractions like fractions
~Add and Subtract Rational numbers including mixed numbers
Week 6
~Add and subtract Rational numbers including unlike fractions
Week 7
~Review weeks 5-6
Week 8
~Identify and give examples of Ratios
~Represent ratios as fractions, decimals, and percents
Week 9
~Identify rates/Distinguish between rates and ratios
~Determine the best buy using rates
Week 10
~Expressions, Equations, and inequalities
~Decide if two Expressions are equal
Week 11
~Write and Solve one-step equations and inequalities
~Represent solution to one-step equations and inequalities on a number line
~Determine if a given value is true for an equation 
Week 12
~Review weeks  9-11
