This is the second half of a year of Grade 3 Math, lasting 12 weeks. Please be sure the student has first taken Part 1 of this course. This class will meet twice a week during a period of three months not including holidays. In the first class I will have everyone introduce themselves, then I will tell everyone how the class will operate and what my expectations are. We will be using a website ‘Classkick’ for our classes. You will not need to sign up for an account. I will provide a link at the beginning of each class. When you click on the link, it will ask you to put in a name. You will only need to put in the students first name so that I can identify their work. Classkick is an interactive site where students can work on their math problems on the screen and at the same time, I (the teacher) will be able to see what they are doing on their end on my own screen. Each class assignment is a PDF that is uploaded into Classkick. We will not be watching any videos or using any reference websites during class. To be Coppa Compliant, the class assignment will only be accessible during our class. Once the class ends, you will no longer have access to the lesson. I will post a PDF of the answers to the problems we do in class in the Outschool Classroom for students who want to review the work. I post the answer keys at the end of each week. Sometimes, we will use Kahoot or Blooket to play games on the topic we are doing in class (if time permits). You will not need to sign up for an account with Kahoot or Blooket. This is not a graded class but I will be providing optional homework after each class for those who want/need extra practice. Optional homework assignments will be posted in the Outschool Classroom once a week. I will post the assignments and the answer keys so you can check your work when you are done with the assignments. Although homework is not sent in for grading, please feel free to message me on Outschool Messages at any time with questions about the optional homework or any topics we cover in class so that you don’t fall behind. The optional homework will be in the form of a PDF. You will need to print it, do the work, and check your answers with the provided answer keys. There are no tests in this class. No grades will be provided. Optional homework is highly recommended for you to master the topics learned in class. All optional homework assignments, homework answer keys, and classwork answer keys will be posted in the Outschool Classroom at the end of the week. I will provide you with a link to a shared Google Drive folder where all the homework assignments and answer keys will be uploaded to. All states and countries have their own requirements so please check your requirements to make sure the topics covered in this class is sufficient. In weeks 13 and 14 we will learn more multiplication and division facts. Week 15 will be about lines, angles, perimeter, and area. Week 17 is about counting money. Week 18 will go further into geometry with comparing shapes and solid figures. Week 19 is about metric system measurements. Weeks 21 & 22 go into multiplication and division involving up to 3 digit numbers. Week 23 introduces decimals and their relation to fractions. Every week will be a different topic. My teaching style is a positive form of "I teach, perform guided practice, and enable independent practice." I encourage questions from students. I go through example math problems via slides in a step by step manner, providing explanations as needed. Then I will ask students to demonstrate their knowledge by having them answer a problem, providing guiding questions to push them forward. With repetition, students will grasp the concept. I check for understanding in a constructive manner. I go around the room, asking each student to answer a problem and to provide explanations for their solution. This helps them develop their critical thinking skills. Grade 3 Math Topic Schedule Week 13: Multiplication Facts to 10 Week 14: Division Facts to 10 Week 15: Geometry Week 16: Review topics from Weeks 13-15 Week 17: Money Week 18: More Geometry Week 19: Metric Measurement Week 20: Review topics from Weeks 17-19 Week 21: Multiply by 1-Digit Numbers Week 22: Division by 1-Digit Numbers Week 23: Decimal Fractions Week 24: Review topics from Weeks 21-23 ***Please NOTE : The class minimum is atleast 3 students. If the minimum is not met, this class will be canceled. I will wait till the day before class to cancel due to the possibility of last minute sign ups. If I need to cancel due to low enrollment, you will get a full refund.***

Greetings. I am a New York state licensed classroom teacher in secondary math and special education. I taught math at a high school in NYC DOE for 5 years before deciding to teach on Outschool. Patience and compassion are my strong suits. I will help you if you ask! Having a child "get" a concept gives me joy. My wife and I homeschool our three daughters.
