Description
Class Experience
The students will identify three-dimensional solids, including spheres, cones, cylinders, cubes and rectangular prisms and describe their attributes using formal geometric language. We will be counting sides, vertices and edges and comparing shapes in this geometry lesson. Using poetry, a chart , a powerpoint presentation and real items, the students will experience the 3D shapes as they learn. Our class will include group discussion and interaction. Then they will play a guessing game....
You may bring a household item to class that is a cube, cone, sphere, rectangular prism or cylinder. Keep this hidden from the class until the game is in progress.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
