The students will identify three-dimensional solids, including spheres, cones, cylinders, cubes and rectangular prisms and describe their attributes using formal geometric language. We will be counting sides, vertices and edges and comparing shapes in this geometry lesson. Using poetry, a chart , a powerpoint presentation and real items, the students will experience the 3D shapes as they learn. Our class will include group discussion and interaction. Then they will play a guessing game. It will be demonstrated by the teacher first and then each student can be the leader. Each student is encouraged to bring a 3D shape to class. Keep it hidden until the game begins. There is no experience required to attend. We will have fun together as we play, learn and socialize. Please let me know if you have need a different time for this class to be offered.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Master's Degree in Education from Texas Wesleyan University
I love to teach many different types of reading and English classes. I enjoy teaching pre reading skills as well as word work and grammar. This includes English as a second language to students who want to improve their English skills. I have taught 32 years in the public schools. There I taught most grade levels, but really fell in love with writing. I also taught English as a second language to children in my school district at all levels. I then taught English with Chinese students online. I spent some time working in administration to help other teachers find the skills they needed to be successful in the classroom. I believe that all students can grow and learn when they are inspired and when their stress level is low. Making the classroom fun, encouraging students and acknowledging their success will help achieve their ability to learn. Aside from teaching, I love to travel, care for my pet dog and cheer for my son in his hockey games.
