US Grade 4 - 7
This class allows me time to get to know students on a personal level, find out what they want to learn, where their strengths and weaknesses are, and encourage personal growth! I make learning fun, as it should be, kids learn best through play, and to be honest, it makes teaching more fun too! Classes will include bingo, Blooket, MadLibs, creative storytelling, etc. Syllabus: JUNE Week 1: Intro to story line, arc, and plot. Early years grammar review - nouns, proper nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Week 2: 6 ways to start a sentence: Irregular plural nouns, adverbs, pronouns. Character sketch day! - Creating our own Disney characters Week 3: Antonyms and synonyms. Homophones and homographs. Concrete and abstract nouns + bingo game day! Hamburger paragraph outliner. Week 4: Crafting topic sentences. Supporting details and paragraph form. JULY Week 1: Formal writing practice - paragraph form Week 2: Thesaurus skills + creating food ads! Personification, alliteration, and onomatopoeia. Week 3: Poetry writing + Shel Silverstein author study. Poetry vocab bingo: Stanza, lines, meter, rhyme scheme, enjambment, and motif. Week 4: Summary writing lesson, visual note taking (We get to watch a fun How's It Made video for this class!) Writing game day! "What's in the bag?" "Whose line is it anyway?" "One word matters" ...and more if time allows! AUGUST Week 1: Writing a letter + addressing an envelope. Figurative language: Hyperboles. The 5 W's - Wacky sentence writing day. Comma review: Places, dates, and lists. Their/they're/there. To/too/two. Your/You're. Its/it's - Homophone review Week 2: POV - 1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person. Formal writing practice - paragraph form - Video on Felix Baumgartner and the International Space Station. Week 3: What makes a hero - Interview with Stan Lee (Marvel). Who Am I - Writing project from the theory of Theseus' boat. Week 4: Grammar bingo day + Blooket. Making strong thesis statements and Author study of AA Milne - history of Winne the Pooh and how it connects to WWI. ... more to come
Learning Goals
Students will improve their knowledge of all things language arts related including reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing skills and styles, grammar, spelling, etc.

Parental Guidance
I will be using worksheets for spelling and reading comprehension from Canva, Education.com, IXL curriculum books, Blooket, and spelling levels 1-9 depending on the age of the child. No accounts are required, I will provide all materials needed on-screen during class.
