1:1 MasterClass: How to Write Superb Short Stories, is a class that will develop the skill of writing marvelous short stories, allow learners to expand on their innate gifts, to allow their imaginations to soar and to create stories that have never been told...until now. While the short story is arguably the most accessible form of literature we have today, it is also the last major form of literature to develop--coming to fruition with the industrial revolution and the expansion of people moving to cities. With little time and a hunger for learning, the short story provided the thrill of a great read and a condensed and powerful message. That's still true! This class will be guided by the needs of each individual learner. Every writer has definite strengths and areas that can be enhanced. Much of the learning from this class will be drawn from my own well-established classes on Outschool: Spar Lit Short Story Classics Spar Lit Short Story Masterpieces We will explore the How tos of the short story: The Why of the Story Story Plot Characterization Point of View Setting Theme Style and specific details including: Word use Sentence structure Paragraphing Narration Character Dialogue Details Gesture Moreover, amongst other things we may cover: Examples of great short stories , from authors as diverse as John Cheever to Eudora Welty will be shared with the learner throughout the sessions. My whole method of teaching throughout all my classes is to listen to and respond to learners. I value their input--I care deeply about what they have to say and what they think.
