1:1 Guitar Lessons - Beginner/ Intermediate

Welcome to 1:1 guitar lessons with me, Mr. Martin!

I'm excited to help you to learn and play the guitar. In these classes I will meet you where you are and teach from there.

Beginners will learn the names of the parts of the guitar, how to hold it, and will either learn to pluck the strings with a pick, or if they want to learn using their fingers, then that's fine too. I teach pop, rock and classical to beginners so will approach each student invidually to see what they are aspiring to, and see what is the best way forward for them.

Intermediate learners will learn to expand their chords, scales and position knowledge on the neck. It's important ar this stage of guitar playing to expand your knowledge across the whole neck, and learn things such as chord inversions, scales in all different positions, and harmonic modes. Alongside this, they will learn to improve their feel and their technical playing, l through learning classic solos and great melody lines and chord patterns.

Let me know your interests, hobbies, and favourite music styles. I love to prepare students' favourite songs and styles as It brings them joy and always improves their ability. 

Lessons will be structured to have a learning objective, whether that be a new technique, or a new chord/ scale. There will be material each week to satisfy that objective, and half the lesson will be spent on that. The second half of the lesson will be about learning a new song or continuing with a song, either of a students choice, or of my recommendation.

Guitar should be accessible to everyone, and I pride myself on tailoring my teaching to every student's individual needs and level.
