Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
Every week, we'll explore a captivating storybook carefully selected to engage young minds and spark their interest in reading.

We will spend 30 min reading a discussing a given text. We will focus on comprehension of the text and recalling information. For beginner reader we will focus on decoding and phonic skills. ESL is welcome!

What is my teaching style?
I like to keep things fun and engaging by asking the students questions and promoting discussion on the topic. I set behavior expectations while making sure students are all respected and spoken to kindly. I want students to feel like they can ask and answer questions without fear of failure or rejection.

Every week, we have 3 following books to read and discuss in one of these book selections:

Tuesday and Thursday: The Sour Grape by Jory John)

After the read-aloud, we will work on activities to be sent before the class starts.

Each session includes printed worksheets tailored to the featured storybook. These worksheets reinforce comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills enjoyably.

Learning Goals
Imagination and Creativity: Reading encourages creativity as children visualize scenes, characters, and settings described in the story. It sparks their imagination and inspires them to create their own stories and adventures.
Social and Emotional Development: Through stories, children learn about emotions, empathy, and social interactions. They can relate to characters' feelings and experiences, which helps them develop their own emotional intelligence.
