In this class, students will learn about the addictive properties of screen time and how to manage it effectively to avoid negative consequences. Led by a programmer with firsthand experience in the tech industry, the class will cover the psychological and technological factors that contribute to screen time addiction and provide practical strategies for avoiding it.

2) How to recognise the symptoms - if you spot addiction earlier it's easier to deal with it
3) What can happen if you get addicted - the reasons why you want to avoid addiction 
4) Ways to deal with it or prevent it & how to make better choices about how you use your time
5) The psychological and technological factors that contribute to screen time addiction

Please be aware I try to teach all of my classes to at least 2 students as I feel it provides a better teaching and learning experience. If the minimum amount of students is not reached 72 hours before the start of the course, students will be notified and offered a refund or transfer.

Parental Guidance
Please note, this class will highlight to students how much of their lives they are wasting on screens and the harmful effects this has on their minds, bodies and relationships. Some students can find the realization that they have a screen addiction problem profoundly distressing. After this class, please ensure that you speak to your child about what we have covered and be prepared to offer the support they will need to overcome their addiction. You may wish to approach local counselling services to find out what professional support is available to you. Please be aware that addiction is a problem, whether it is screen time, video games, drugs, alcohol or any other addictive behaviour. If your child identifies that they have a problem during this class please seek professional help immediately.

Dr. Peter King has done Computer Science modules at University and is a lifelong computer game enthusiast - especially Sid Meir's Civilization which he has played throughout most of his adult life. So he understands from first-person experience how addictive video games can be. He has 3 young stepchildren who he helps get active away from their Playstations and uses many of the techniques and theories explained in this course to help them get a better balance to their lives.
