Lieba family wins a year of free Outschool tutoring
The Head of Outschool tells the Leiba family they won the Outschool contest for a year of free tutoring. Watch their reaction.
Congrats to the grand prize winner of our recent Learn & Earn Showdown competition–the Leiba family! Seeing their reaction to the prize win (valued at $4,160) was incredible. Rebecca Leiba is the mother to Henry (age 13) and Arthur (age 9). They joined Outschool in March 2020 and have since enrolled in 619 individual classes and 181 1-on-1 sessions. Henry has taken classes like math, reading, and singing lessons. Arthur has explored reading, writing, public speaking, confidence classes, and more.
Before the pandemic, the Leiba family used public and private schools, but Covid forced them into homeschooling, and they’ve stuck with it. Previously, they were unhappy with the quality of their local public school options, so homeschooling has been an excellent solution for them. Plus, now they can customize their education to their neurodivergent needs. The kids are thriving. The Leiba’s current dream is to travel more and try ‘worldschooling.’
Why the Leibas love Outschool
The Leiba’s learning approach focuses on material mastery and finding the right next step for each child. Outschool has been a big part of that process. Here’s what Rebecca said in her contest application about her family’s experience using Outschool.
Outschool.com has been an absolute game-changer for our homeschooling journey, catering to the unique needs of both my kids, who couldn’t have more different educational needs. My book-loving, scientifically-driven child thrives with Outschool’s science and history courses and can tap into his creative side with coding and Photoshop workshops. The small class sizes and expert instructors have created a personalized learning experience, fostering his love for learning and encouraging in-depth exploration of his favorite subjects.
My neurodivergent child loves the art and music classes and is able to pursue more challenging subjects on a one-to-one basis, where the speed of the course progresses as he masters the materials. Both kids benefit from the flexibility of Outschool, which lets us choose classes that align with their interests and schedules. In addition, they are able to make friends with other kids from all over the world and gain insight into other communities and cultures. The platform has truly revolutionized our homeschooling approach, providing a diverse and interactive learning experience that caters to their individual needs. We are extremely happy with the freedom and opportunities it has offered and look forward to future use.
Reading those words and watching the Head of Outschool share the news that they’d won, definitely made us teary. See it for yourself. Watch the video.
What we love about the Leiba’s story is that they’ve found a learning approach that works for them. We can’t wait to hear how their year of free tutoring goes and all the amazing things their learners do next.
