This class supports Common Core State Standards: CCSS.ELA – Literacy SL.K.1 – 2.1, K.2 – 2.2, K.3 – 3.3, K.4 – 2.4, K.5 – 2.5, K.6 – 2.6. Students will: 1. Plan and practice presenting a 2–3 minute long speech 2. Describe people, places, things, and events orally using notes on a note card 3. Learn to speak audibly and express thoughts, feeling, and ideas clearly 4. Learn six different speaking styles 5. Practice attentive and active listening 6. Ask and answer questions to gain understanding
