眼神交流不可能是自閉症 - 更多關於自閉症的迷思 9-13

This is an interactive lecture-style class. I will be using a Google slide presentation to help me present the information and will give many opportunities for students to ask questions and share their experiences.

Students benefit most from this class if they first have a good understanding of what autism is. If your student doesn't have that understanding yet, I would recommend starting with my class "What is Autism?" which is offered for ages 4-7, 8-12, and 13-18. 

Common myths that will be covered:

~ Can autistic people make eye contact?

~ All autistics are either mentally disabled or savants.

~Autim is a mental health disorder. We will be covering how it is actually a neurological disorder and what that means. We will also talk about the stigma around the word "disorder" and how the word doesn't have to be a bad thing. 

~ Autistic have no sense of humor and other common generalizations about autism. 

~ Autism can be cured or lessened by therapies or diets etc. (Under sources I have linked an article with more information on this topic to help parents understand what we will be covering). 


This class is inclusive, which means students of all abilities are welcome. If your student needs any accommodations please let me know and we will work together to ensure the best possible class experience.
