In this one-time class, young artists will be guided, step by step, through the process of sketching and inking three types of peony, from simplest to most complex. These line drawings can be colored in later (by the artist or others) and make lovely and impressive gifts, but more importantly, the young artist will have added a life-long skill to their growing repertoire of artistic abilities, and will gain confidence in their own talent. This class is fun, social, and has beautiful results for all!

I teach classes that have a language arts focus. My classes are usually for learners aged 8-16, but don't hesitate to let me know if you're looking for something similar for a younger learner - I'm happy to work with all ages. I am also a lifelong enthusiastic artist, so I love to teach classes on drawing.
I have worked as a professional tutor for over twelve years; first for the California Board of Education, and later for a private company where I was made Language Arts Program Director for the entire organization. I've taught students from ages 5-18, in class sizes ranging from 1-20.
My teaching philosophy is that education should be, as far as is practical, learner-directed. I value the learners' input, their interest, and their active curiosity. If the learner is interested and having fun, they will remember what they've learned and seek to build upon it and share it. Learning should be a pleasure so that it becomes a lifelong habit of mind, even after the school years have passed.
Finally, I believe that a happy and passionate teacher makes for happy and passionate learners, which is why all of my classes are about topics that I truly enjoy and can't wait to share and discuss with young learners.評論
