課堂經歷
This flex class is designed to give learners the opportunity to learn the French verb material first through the instructor videos and then through practical and interactive components over 10 weeks. There will be **No live meetings** Learners will complete general comprehension quizzes via material provided on Google Forms. Learners will also share their responses in the Outschool classroom weekly and they will be encouraged to correct each other's work, while also paying attention to any errors they might notice and explaining the reasoning behind the correction. Weekly learner participation is required in the Outschool classroom discussion board which teacher will respond to. After each week's class, instructor will provide a Verb of the Week for the class to create at least 5 sentences to upload in the Outschool classroom prior the next class. Personalized weekly teacher video feedback will be provided to learners prior to the next class to assist in improving sentences and verb usage. Each learner will also make sentences at first in English that will be translated to French by the instructor to illustrate how sentences in French are constructed. The goal is to help learners write and create their own sentences using the various verbs learned throughout the course. Additionally, to further support their language and comprehension skills, learners will be directed to participate in class to friendly competition on Kahoot. Scores will added up after each game for a final score or winning team at the end of 10 weeks. Learners may partner with another classmate to combine their weekly Kahoot scores and work together throughout the 10 weeks to practice their grammar, sentences building and oral language skills as they learn verbs learn each week. 1. Week One: Introduction to French verbs structure 2. Week Two: French verbs [-ER] verbs (Activity: learner will practice writing out 3 verbs of their choice) 3. Week Three: French verbs [-ER] verbs with simple sentence structure formation - temps présent/ (Activity: Google Forms quiz to review ER verbs. Learners will also submit video in the Outschool classroom with them pronouncing the two to three ER verbs which will be evaluated by instructor with feedback given by video to improve for next time. Kahoot challenge game with other flex class learners) 4. Week Four: French verbs [-IR] verbs. (Activity: learner will practice writing out 3 verbs of their choice) 5. Week Five: French verbs [-IR] verbs with simple sentence structure formation - temps présent (Activity: Google Forms quiz to review IR verbs. Learners will also submit video of the pronouncing each two IR verbs which will be evaluated by instructor with feedback given by video to improve. Learners will practice making sentences with IR verbs. Kahoot challenge game with other flex class learners.) 6. Week Six: French verbs [-RE] verbs (Activity: learner will practice writing out 3 verbs of their choice. ) 7. Week Seven: French verbs [-RE] verbs with simple sentence structure formation - temps présent (Activity: Google Forms quiz to review RE verbs. Learners will also submit video of the pronouncing each two RE verbs which will be evaluated by instructor with feedback given to improve. Learners will practice making sentences all three verb type ER/IR/RE Kahoot challenge game with other flex class learners.) 8. Week Eight: French irregular verbs [avoir/être]. Explanation of usage of auxiliary verbs using simple French sentences. Follow practical exercises and quiz before advancing to week nine. 9. Week Nine: French irregular verbs [faire/aller] Explanation of usage of these essential verbs. In class demonstration of how these irregular verbs can be used in sentences and using common French expressions. (Activity: Google Forms quiz to evaluate overall learning comprehension) 10. Week Ten: Introduction to the passé composé in French representing simple past tense. (Activity Learners will complete final quiz via Google Forms and final Kahoot challenge comprised of a summary of class lesson plans with an opportunity to review quizzes with teacher feedback up to two additional times at the end of week ten. Kahoot challenge winners celebrated) Learners who have previous French experience but would like to improve their verb skills would be suitable for this course. It is also suitable for new learners to prepare for other courses offered by Teacher Michelle like Immersive French. This flex class provides learners with the opportunity to learn at their pace and review lessons before moving to next one. Live office hours will be booked in week 3, 6, 9. Set times will be provided to learners to meet in small groups of 2-4. Learners may also book with teacher for additional assistance weekly prior to class at mutually agreeable time. If a live time is not possible, a video option is also available.

The flexible approach to learning a key component of the French language will provide learners with the opportunity to learn at their own pace and review content or use as tool to memorize key French conjugations. The flex class can be used to prepare for other French classes offered for group sessions like Immersive French.

I 've taught consistently on the Outschool platform since 2020 with my primary focus on French instruction for all levels. I offer 1:1 classes, group class learning with Immersive French and conversational classes. Teaching French is what I love to do and I will bring warmth, enthusiasm and fun to the classroom with an opportunity for students to interact, learn and feel comfortable as we learn.
During day, my role as community relations leader in healthcare brings me the joy and opportunity to teach, mentor and see learners of all ages develop every day. I look forward to offering leadership classes in the near future.
I've taught well over 3,500 English & French classes. My path to French started in kindergarten as a child in French Immersion. I eventually pursued my Honours Bachelor's degree in French Studies and Communications. I have spoken French for over 25 years. I am fully bilingual and have tutored all ages -- from children to adults. I also hold my TESOL certification.
My experience is varied and allows me to bring well-rounded perspective from sports and fitness, hospitality, broadcast media, non-profit and healthcare. I will bring this perspective to my lessons to help students apply and learn new things.
