作家研討會：新增細節

In our writing workshop, students are treated as real authors no matter how old they are! My goal is for everyone to leave the lesson feeling proud and accomplished. Our class will begin with a mini-lesson, using examples to hook in the learner before they begin their guided independent work and end with a share. In this course, young writers will learn how to take a big event in their lives and break it down into small moments. Using the watermelon analogy, we will take a big idea and break it down by slices and eventually seeds (specific moments in their big idea). This method guides students on creating more depth in their story telling, and encourages use of descriptive language to share details and moments that have impacted them most. 

Course requirements: As long as students know basic letters and letter sounds, and can illustrate to the best of their abilities, they should be set! Students do not need to spell correctly, though they will be encouraged to sound out words as best they can. I will certainly make exceptions for students learning differences, on an as need basis. 

Goal of our lesson: By the end of our time together, the goal is for students to have creatively written a detailed 'small moments' story with confidence and ease, and leave the lesson feeling proud of their work!
