課堂經歷
In this one time class students will explore Indonesia, home to some of the worlds most fascinating animals. We will learn about different ecosystem as we travel across this island nation, and see which endangered species inhabit each environment. We'll discuss conservation efforts underway to protect species who are threatened by extinction, such as the Sumatran Tiger, Orangutan, and Green sea Turtle. This course is equal parts conservation science, ecology, and geography. Along the way we'll explore the many species of parrots and birds that inhabit this long string of over 17,000 islands. We'll talk about how local people and non-profit groups are working together to protect habitat for nature in the fast growing nation. This class will focus the diverse wildlife of Indonesia, and the ecology of the worlds largest island nation. The course will be taught through a combination of lecture, videos, and photos, including those from my own travels to Indonesia. Students will be encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and share their thoughts on the class content.
