評估
Learners will be assessed informally in each class through verbal comprehension checks and class discussions. Each class will begin with a quick review of the activities from the previous week's class to ensure students understood the material. At the end of each unit, students will complete a Kahoot, which will act as an informal summative assessment of the unit.

In this engaging and thought-provoking class, teenagers will delve into the complex history of the Israel-Palestine conflict, tracing its origins from the Crusades in the Middle East to the modern-day peace efforts such as the Camp David and Oslo Accords. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the historical events and key players that have shaped the conflict, including the Zionist movement founded by Theodor Herzl, the Balfour Declaration, the creation of Israel by the United Nations, and the wars such as the 1948 War, Six Day War, and Yom Kippur War. They will also examine the role played by Egypt and Gamal Abdel Nasser, the Suez Crisis, the Munich Massacre during the 1972 Olympic Games, and the Intifada. Through engaging presentations and note sets, students will critically analyze the complexities of the conflict, explore different perspectives, and discuss potential solutions for lasting peace in the region. Join us on this eye-opening journey to uncover the untold history of one of the most enduring conflicts in the world.

This course will be taught using visual aids via PowerPoint in a lecture-based format. Students will be expected to ask questions and discuss the material we are covering as a group. During the 50-minute class periods, students should expect to answer questions to check their understanding and participate in class discussions. The last week of the course will be the unit test which will be in the form of an interactive game of Kahoot.

This is an introductory class, so students do not need to have any background knowledge coming into class!

I am a licensed middle school and high Social Studies teacher in the state of Ohio. I have been teaching Social Studies to middle and high school students for the last four years. I have used this same lesson with students in the classroom and it has always been highly engaging. I also have a Bachelor's degree in both Education and History.

Both my teaching license in Integrated Social Studies (grades 7-12) and my Bachelor's degree in History qualify me to teach this introductory course on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
