秋天的奇觀：用松果繪畫！

Hello Friends! 

My name is Ms. Kayla, and I am so excited to share my passions with you! My classes are designed to engage children in seasonal art and learn something new at the same time. I like to use different materials from the household and nature to create art, as well traditional art materials. I enjoy working with all age groups of children and plan my classes with age-appropriate activities to engage all young learners with an interest in art.

I currently have 4 years of experience working with and teaching children. I am currently an ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher online for the past year, which has given me a lot of experience with teaching students online. This experience has taught me how to simplify and adjust lessons for students of all ages, and learning levels. 

I have worked at various childcare centers, where I cared for children ranging from infants to school-age children. As a teacher in this facility, I was responsible for caring for the children daily, as well as creating a lesson plan to engage children in educational activities. The lessons had a different weekly theme (ex. ocean), and were planned to target a different area of development (ex. Gross motor, Language, Cognitive, etc.)

I was employed as a summer camp counselor and an after-school caretaker for my local YMCA. My responsibilities included caring for school-age children and engaging them in various activities. As a Camp counselor, I supervised summer field trips and outdoor activities, engaged children in games & activities, and provided care to them during the day. As an after-school caretaker, I assisted children with their homework and provided a safe environment for play and exploration.

I have experience teaching children of all ages, from infants to High School age. Other than working with children in a classroom setting, I have coached the sport of wrestling for the past three years. I was a wrestler from the time I was in middle school to college. The sport provided such an outlet for me in my youth, that I enjoy teaching the sport to athletes of all ages. Through these experiences, I have found my passion for teaching. I enjoy guiding children towards their goals and watching them grow into all they can be. I also enjoy it when they teach me something new too!

I graduated from Slippery Rock University (SRU) in May of 2018 with a BA. In Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Psychology, which has assisted me in understanding the development in the young minds of children. I also received a Minor in Philosophy from SRU, which has helped with my understanding of different human ideologies.

I believe that there is a creative side to every person, and art is an incredible tool to express that!
Whether you are trying to pick up a new hobby or find a new way to express yourself, art can help you find beauty and peace in all things around you. You can create art from anything, and art can be expressed on any level of learning. Even if you do not consider yourself "good" at art, as long you have a love to create art, the world is your canvas! As quoted by my biggest inspiration: "We have no limits to our world.
