This interactive hands on class is for kids who love The Wizard of Oz. We will start the class by taking an imaginary trip down The Yellow Brick Road. We will discuss some of the different characters featured in the story, move like the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion, sing a song, act out a scene, and build our own version of The Magical Land of OZ. We will build a tornado in a bottle, craft a rainbow, and foil Tinman. If there is time, we will make Poems around the quote "There's no place...
I am currently a preschool teacher. I have taught elementary school in the past. I direct a children's theater group and have choreographed a production of The Wizard of Oz. I tend to be an energetic person who works to provide a supportive atmosphere for student's to exercise their creativity.
Please bring paper and any kind of drawing utensils, (crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.) Please have a clear jar with a lid, access to water, and some dish soap. Students need one sheet of tin foil. Children should bring any kind of blocks to build with, or they could stack paper/plastic cups. Please have class in a space where building with blocks is possible, (i.e., have a bit of floor or table top space available).
