In this one-time seasonal course we will cover the changes that occur in the landscape when plants prepare themselves for winter. We will cover the topics of seasonality and how plants achieve dormancy to survive frost until the next spring. We will discuss the environmental trigger that begins the seasonal change, and the processes envolved that reveal the striking fall colors many love and enjoy. The compounds in plants that possess the color qualities we see in the fall will be also...
Students will improve their understanding of the fall season. They will learn terms like anthocyanin, carotenoid, chlorophyll, deciduous, dormancy, and senescence as it pertains to plant science and the change of seasons in autumn from summer to winter.
I have my Bachelor's degree in horticulture from Iowa State University.
No supplies are neccesary for this course. Pen or pencil and paper for notetaking is always encouraged though!

Slides presented in the course and certificate of completion can be printed with a free Canva account and will be shared in the classroom postings.
