美國等級 8 - 11
In this one-time, 55 minute class, we will try to figure out why people move and what consequences their migration causes for themselves and their families. We will do this by looking at the basic definition of migration, some of the factors that push or pull people to move across the world. We will then look at several fairly current, real-life examples and the consequences that we are seeing or expect to see from those situations. After that, we will look at examples from several popular...
Students will explain the difference between push and pull factors of migration. Students will be able to identify push and pull factors in stories about migration. Students will list impacts of migration on the people and places involved. This lesson is in line with the Utah State Core Standard of Education for Geography: WG Standard 2.2: Students will explain push and pull factors causing voluntary and involuntary migration and the consequences created by the movement of people.
I am a licensed social studies teacher in the state where I live. I developed and taught this lesson for a 9th grade World Geography class I taught. I have several years of experience working with adolescents as a mentor, camp counselor, tutor, teacher, and Debate coach.

After each clip, students will be asked to identify the reason the main character left and label that reason as either a push factor or a pull factor. Students will then be asked to think critically and come up with possible impacts of that migration. If a letter grade is desired, families may request it in advance and I will send a worksheet to be filled out by the student as we go. This worksheet will then need to be returned so I can grade it.提供的成績
This class revolves around migration and the reasons people move. These reasons can be sensitive and include topics like violence, famine, poverty, and oppression. Migration can also be sensitive as it relates to politics and legality. Conversations about politics and the legality of migration are not the main focus of this class, but the topics may still be breached.
