In this multi-day class students will gain the knowledge to tell time on an analogue clock.  Each time we meet, we will learn about a specific aspect of telling time and then we will practice that skill.  Each class will build on the previous one so that your learner reviews the skill taught in the previous class along with the new skill being introduced.  We will work on learning to tell minutes first, without worrying about the hour.  Then we will add the hour hand onto our clock once we understand the concept of minutes.  Below is a list of goals for each class.

Class 1:  Students will create a clock that will be used in each of our lessons.  We will focus on moving the minute hand around the clock to count by five minute increments. We will also learn a song to help us remember this concept.   At the end of this class, students should be able to tell what the minutes on the clock say if they are pointing to a number (five minute increments of time)

Class 2:  Students will review the last lesson and will begin counting by single minutes.  We will build on the idea of counting by 5 minute increments and then counting up from there.

Class 3:  Students will add the hour hand to their clocks and we will begin learning how to tell the time with the hour hand.  

Class 4:  Students will review the concept of telling time by putting everything that they have learned together.  We will practice together and celebrate their accomplishment!

Learning to tell time is a process and each child learns at a different rate.  My goal is for your child is to be able to tell time at the end of this class but it may take longer for some children.  The videos of each class will be available afterwards so that you can review further if needed.  The classes have been spread out to meet twice a week for two weeks so that there is ample time between classes to practice their new skill before moving on.
