Note: I have recently accepted a full-time position and now teach very few classes on Outschool. At this time, I am unable to accommodate class requests. Thank you! Quicksand. Killer bees. Avalanches. A hungry bear. Chances are, you'll never encounter any of these things. Phew! But...What if? In this class, science, nature, and survival-loving students will explore survival strategies for seven improbable scenarios, including being: Lost in the desert Caught in quicksand Swarmed by killer bees Caught in an avalanche Attacked by a Bear Bitten by a venomous snake Trapped under a downed power line I use a self-made PowerPoint, pictures, a few short videos, discussion, questioning, lots of humor, and some low-stress quiz questions to keep the instruction fun and engaging, yet educational, too. Students will learn WHAT to do and hilariously what definitely NOT to do in these unlikely situations. I am an experienced and enthusiastic educator, and accommodate all learners in my classroom.

The scenarios discussed in this class may be frightening for more sensitive learners. One of the humorous short videos detailing how to avoid a bear attack shows some clay-mation violence and contains the phrase "Holy Crap."
