This class will take students on a journey to the past to see how the world has changed. Each week students will compare different activities that were done in past to how they are done in modern day. Each class is a standalone class and the classes do not build on each other, students can join at any time. Students will experience how life was like and how it has changed through games, crafts, and dance, among other activities. We will cover a wide variety of time periods and subjects from Ancient times to the 20th century. Class will begin with a brief introduction of activities and history behind them. September 26: 1990s Trends Comparing: Toys and trends Activities: Making a poem for toy Supplies: A stuffed animal, paper and something to write with October 3: Impressionist Paintings Comparing: Art Activity: Creating a piece of art Supplies: Paper, colored pencils, markers, etc. or Paints and brushes October 10: Paper Dolls Comparing: Toys Activity: Creating Paper Dolls Supplies: Paper, scissors, markers, colored pencils, etc. October 17: Taos and Camino Real Comparing: Trading and Shopping Activity: Shopping Supplies: 5 or more random items October 24: Shadow Puppets Comparing: Performing Activity: Making Shadow Puppets Supplies: Paper, scissors, tape, pencils or other thin sticks October 31: Halloween Comparing: Halloween traditions and other harvest celebrations Activity: Trick or Treating Supplies: Learners should come in their Halloween Costume, and bring some type of candy to eat during class November 7: School Through History Comparing: Schooling Activity: School Activities Supplies: Paper, something to write with November 14: Quilts Comparing: Bed coverings Activity: Designing a Quilt Supplies: Paper, colored pencils, markers, etc. November 21: Cobb Salad Comparing: Food Activity: Making and Eating Cobb Salad Supplies: Knife, cutting board, bowl, (For personal preference and allergies, none of the following are required) Avocado, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Bacon, Celery, Chicken, Hard-boiled egg, Chives, Watercress and cheese November 28 and December 5: NO CLASS December 12: Holiday Decorations Comparing: Decorations Activity: Making holiday decorations Supplies: Paper, scissors, tape December 19: Holiday Cards Comparing: Holiday Cards Activity: Making holiday cards Supplies: Paper, colored pencils, markers, etc. December 26: NO CLASS January 2: 12 days of Christmas Comparing: Holiday Songs Activity: Creating own version of 12 days of Christmas Supplies: None Parents and Learners are encouraged to give suggestions for future classes and topics they would like to learn more about and experience. #academic

All topics covered should be age appropriate, and handled in an age appropriate manner. If parents have any concerns about a particular topic they should contact the teacher directly.

I love history and learning about how people lived during different times. I like to do research into how people lived and trying things out for myself. I believe the best way to learn about something is to try and experience it first hand and through this class we will try to experience this as best we can. I teach history classes on Outschool in a variety of formats and subjects and am a former Arts and Crafts teacher.評論
