In this exciting and interactive on-going writing workshop, students will practice writing persuasive, narrative and descriptive writing pieces using video game-themed ideas and writing prompts. Each week the students will have a mini-lesson on how to organize, develop and enhance their writing skills. Next, learners will be provided with a variety of writing prompts on their favourite video games in order to practice the skills they have learned in class. Each class will also include a fun, interactive quiz-style game to help reinforce the new writing skills learned in our mini-lesson! Teaching writing skills is my passion! Team this passion up with my students’ passion for their favorite video game and we've got a winning combination! 

 Theme 1: How to convince your readers: Writing a persuasive text using phenomenal argumentative words and phrases! In this class, students will be given argumentative writing prompts to write an argumentative text about their favourite video game. We will also focus on banishing boring words by using sophisticated transition words to link our ideas together!

Theme 2: Using imagery and descriptive writing to make your writing come alive!  In this class, students will learn how to use vivacious adjectives and adverbs to create video game characters that 'pop' off of the page!

Theme 3:  Using different points of view to write a narrative text.  In this class, students will learn how to use first person, second person, and third person point of view in order to write a narrative text.

Theme 4:  Make your setting come to life.  In this class, students will learn how to use imagery and descriptive writing to create a vibrant setting that their readers will be able to see, touch, taste, hear and smell!

Theme 5:  Vivid verbs!  How to use vivid verbs to create a piece of writing that literally comes to life!

Theme 6: How to write the five-paragraph essay.  Essay writing becomes engaging when we use video game-themed prompts to get the ball rolling!
