In this class, the learner will choose one, two or three dystopian novels, films/movies or TV series they love. We will discuss characterisation, themes, plots and the ethical and social issues raised in the novels. We will look at how the majority of people in the novel are controlled by the people in charge, as well as how “sheeple” affect the story and the main character. We will explore how the society is structured, how people are grouped and therefore what is seen as important in that society and what is it valued. We look at how we can tell who are the good guys from the bad guys, and how what they say is a give away as to their personal character. Finally, the learner will say how these novels impact their life and how their life has changed - if it has - by reading or watching these stories. The lesson will be a discussion between me and the learner. Every learner is welcome in my class.

父母的引導和規範
I will not cover The Handmaid’s Tale unless the learner raises this book or TV series as one of their favourites. If that does happen, I will focus on the structure of the society and how the characters gain their freedom. Sexual assault will not be discussed in my classes.
