In this weekly ongoing class students will relax and unwind in a lighthearted and fun ways using watercolor as a tool for mindfulness and self awareness. It's like art and yoga meet where the tip of the brush touches the paper. Watercolor painting by nature is fluid, changing and often calming. Students will learn the meaning and purpose of mindfulness. Students will learn new watercolor techniques each week. Students will create postcard sized pieces of artwork using techniques suitable for sending through the USPS.
Stephanie is a k12 arts educator, arts in healthcare professional, homeschool Mom, homeschool art teacher. As an arts in healthcare professional Stephanie often leads those facing health challenges through art practices that improve their overall wellness, self esteem, confidence and quality of life. Over time, my hope is, that students will learn to develop a habit of using watercolor as means of self care, preserving memories, vehicle for gift giving and as a tool for self soothing during difficult moments.
Watercolor paint 2 small jars of water round watercolor brush watercolor paper extra fine point sharpie washi tape pencil white crayon, colored pencil or oil pastel Occasionally we will use salt, rubbing alcohol, lemon juice, coffee grinds or tea bags but these items (along with recurring supplies and an overview of the upcoming lesson) will be posted in the classroom by Sunday evening before class on Wednesday.
