課堂經歷
This course is for students that already have some experience cutting fabric and using a sewing machine. In this course we will work through all the steps to take around 20 shirt sides (or other material) and make a memory quilt. Videos, photos, and questions will be posted in the classroom each week for learning and discussion. Learners will be encouraged to share their progress, share successes and struggles, and also share some of the memories associated with their quilt. The class breakdown will look like this: Week 1: Choosing t-shirts and sides to be included. What types of shirt fabric can be used? What if I don't have enough shirts? What if I have too many shirts? What type of interfacing, quilt back, batting, and binding do I want? Week 2: Deciding on sizes for cutting. What is the easiest way to cut t-shirts? Cut t-shirts. Cut and iron on interfacing. Week 3: Lay out quilt. What should I take into account when choosing a quilt layout? Sew quilt blocks together. Design, cut, and sew the quilt back. Week 4: Make the quilt sandwich. Quilt the layers in straight lines. Bind the quilt. Share your finished product. Snuggle up and enjoy your memories. Content will be posted by 10 am daily on weekdays (M-F). All weekly assignments should be completed by Sunday evening to be ready for new content on Monday.

My grandmother taught me how to sew when I was in high school, and I have been sewing off and on since that time. In the past 3 years, I have had the pleasure of making several t-shirt quilts for family and friends. This year, my oldest daughter graduated and I thought it would be the perfect time to make a flex class while I made her memory quilt. I hope you will come quilt with me!
