This is a book club for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Chronicles of Narnia #5) by C.S. Lewis. Each time, we will focus on 4 chapters of the book, discussing the story, learning the vocabulary and taking a comprehension quiz for the assigned chapters. Students will read assigned chapters for each class, completing the book by the end of the course. They should come ready to discuss the chapters and answer comprehension questions each week. The last two times will be spent working to create and present a book report on this book. We play Kahoot! for comprehension questions and Quizlet and play Quizlet Live for the vocabulary. Students should come ready for friendly competition in these fun games. Day 1: Introduction--meet each other, as well as intro to Narnia & author C.S. Lewis. Review vocabulary for chapters 1-4. Day 2: Students will read chapters 1-4 to be prepared for class. We will do a comprehension activity using Kahoot! on these chapters and learn vocabulary for chapters 5-8. Day 3: Comprehension activity and discussion on chapters 5-8. Introduce vocabulary for 9-12. Day 4: Comprehension activity and discussion on chapters 9-12. Introduce vocabulary for 13-16. Lesson on writing a Book Report, 5 paragraph essay, using a story sequence chart Day 5: Comprehension activity and discussion on chapters 13-16. Everyone reads their Book Report to the class. *Please don't hesitate to sign up! Please note that I can only run the class if there is a minimum of 3 people signed up 24 hours before the start time. Tell your friends about it! This is a fun class to take with friends.*

Students will learn vocabulary before reading the chapters, helping them to understand the book easily. The students will also be tested each week on their comprehension of the chapters, so they'll have to pay close attention to what they're reading. Finally, they will write a book report, pulling out the main ideas from the book.

This class covers vocabulary and basic comprehension of the story line and does not deal with allegorical themes.
Quizlet will be used to study vocabulary terms. We will play Quizlet Live in class.
A Kahoot! link will be given at the beginning of class and we will play together to complete review questions for the specified chapters.
