When you play a classical stringed instrument, such as the violin or viola, it is expected to the learn the technique of vibrato, around your third or fourth year of playing. The technique emulates a singer, and alters the pitch of every note we play, to make the instrument sound like it singing beautifully, and it helps to blend sound in a harmonious way with other instruments or vocalists. Students will learn the musical technique of vibrato. How to practice it, improve on it, and implement it in a musical setting. This class is designed for violin and viola vibrato. Students can use this class as extra practice to develop this skill, that many musicians struggle with, in all stages of musical learning. A musical skill that is in demand but takes years of practice to master! So let's get those fingers and arms moving!
I have been teaching the violin and viola since I was 15 years old. I took class piano for 7 years and now teach beginners. You can read my full musical biography on my profile! I have been teaching music privately for 11 years now! I have been teaching online as well since 2019! I have done my online music camp for 3 years now, but this is the first time I am doing it on Outschool and I am so excited! Homework is musical practice and review of what we learned in my class. The more you play (practice), the better you get. To master the skill of vibrato, you must make time to practice it separately. I suggest to aim for at least 30 minutes of vibrato practice, either every day or every other day since it is MUSCLE MEMORY that builds the skill. With that in mind, please take stretch breaks to simply shake out the hands and shoulders every 10-15 minutes.1 - 2 每週課外時間

Each of my classes requires hand outs and sheet music that need to be printed from home. The classes will not be effective or fun if there is no sheet music or worksheets for each student to work on. Violinists or Violists will need: An instrument, pick violin or viola. Bow, case, rosin, music stand, and a shoulder rest. You should all of these materials ready before camp starts, even if you are a complete beginner. This camp is designed for beginners and advancing to intermediate players. If you have NEVER played before, not even once, or you're starting from scratch, please message me for an additional one on one class, or two before taking this class, so you can be ready with the other campers. Charged separately from the camp price. Sheet music that will need to be printed from home, with a pencil and highlighter. Plan to save everything we do in class so you can review it in the future, either for my class or for another teacher's class! And additional note*** In the class, on your camera from home, I will need to be able to see the student AND the instrument in the shot in the same time as possible. It is not effective to see just the student, without the instrument, or just the instrument and not the student. I must be able to see to be able to give proper feedback to the student's technique. For bingo and music theory, I just need to be able to see the student's face. Also, in Zoom, please select the "Original Sound for Musicians" audio options, or take off the "Noise Suppression" option. This is very important, so that I can hear the voice AND the instrument. Otherwise, I will only be able to hear voices, and this is a music class!

In my music classes I will be referring to the Suzuki Method, and other music education methods such as Essential Elements. I will also be providing samples of sheet music to analyze and play on our instruments. In addition, I will also being using Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory and Wallas Pena's "Vibrato Mastery".
