課堂經歷

This class teaches children new verbs and their definitions (one a week) and then how to conjugate these verbs and use them to write a sentence in Spanish. This class teaches children grammar and syntax naturally through writing sentences as a group. This class is meant to be an introduction to writing in Spanish for young children and would serve well to bridge the gap between being a beginner level student and an intermediate level student.
RaShae Smith is a Texas certified educator in Spanish, art, and EC-6 with a bachelor's degree from Lubbock Christian University. She taught Spanish to young children at her in home preschool Libelula Spanish School for 5 years before moving to the online platform of Outschool. As a non-native speaker, she demonstrates to all of her students that Spanish classes work and anyone can learn a second language! She is raising her own 3 children to be bilingual and hopes they love Spanish as much as she does.
Students need to print the handout "T Chart Template for Students to Fill In" before class each time and bring a pencil and an eraser. I recommend anyone planning to attend class for a long period of time, or for the entire school year, buy a folder to keep all of these T Charts in. Parents can use these as a reference point to reinforce the lessons outside of class.

I recommend anyone planning to attend class for a long period of time, or for the entire school year, buy a folder to keep all of their T Charts in. Parents can use these as a reference point to reinforce the lessons outside of class.

Ideas of extension activities include:
-Read to your child a simple book in Spanish with present tense verbs. Have them try to identify which word in the sentence is the verb based on the familiar endings.
-Ask your child to write a new sentence using the Verb of the Week and the Spanish vocabulary they already know.
-Create a list of flashcards with a Verb of the Week on each. Practice learning the definitions of each by not just saying the English equivalent, but also acting out the verb.
-Quiz your child by allowing them to review the T Chart for the Verb of the Week, then hiding it and saying a pronoun from the chart out loud. See if your child can give you the conjugated verb which accompanies that pronoun.

Above all, have fun! Verbs can be a very cut and dry topic. I present the T Chart like we're doing math equations. However, it's a vital step toward learning how to write in Spanish, which is very exciting! Remind your learner that he or she will be able to do such fun things when he or she can write in Spanish, such as write short stories in Spanish, write to a pen pal in Spanish, and even speak more fluently in Spanish.
I have written the curriculum for this class myself, though I am using Trend Enterprises' flash card set "Verbos" to guide me. You do not need to purchase anything.
