課堂經歷

In this one-time workshop, students will learn to make cute penguin cakesicles... You can think of the cakesicle as being the cake pop's popsicle shaped cousin. There will be no baking involved in this course (you must come to class with a plain, prebaked cake) however you will need to be able to use the microwave and the refrigerator. Emphasis is placed on shaping and decorating the cakesicle however, students will learn to make homemade icing! 

Class will begin with a brief icebreaker activity; students will have the chance to introduce themselves and engage with the teacher and their peers. We will then do a quick overview of the materials and get started! The class style is casual, and students will be mostly left unmuted throughout the duration of the course with the exception of there being too much noise while the teacher is giving instruction or an incidence of bullying, foul language or any other inappropriate behavior. The teacher will check in with each student, making sure that they are following along and answering any questions they might have. The teacher will ask the class questions and encourage the students to engage with one another (time permitting). 

The workshop is beginner friendly however students should have experience using the microwave and taking care when handling hot liquids (in this case microwaved candy melts).

- Premade, plain cake of the student's choosing (chocolate or vanilla is recommended).
- Oreos (optional)
- Butter (Please come with room temperature butter. You will need one stick for your icing.) 
- 2 cups of Icing Sugar plus a bit extra on the side (for rolling fondant)
- 1/4 cup of liquid, either milk or water.
- Silicon Popsicle Tray
- Wood Popsicle Sticks
-  2 Piping Bags
- Black and White Candy Melts
- Fondant: black, yellow or orange, red and the color of your choosing for earmuffs, hats and scarves. 
- 1 large clean bowl for the icing
- 1 large bowl for cake
- 2 small bowls for the candy melts
- 3 Spoons
- Scissors
- Rolling Pin (or another suitable item for rolling fondant)
- Hand mixer (or another tool for mixing icing) 
- Butter Knife and Wooden BBQ Skewer or Fondant Tools 
- Oven Mitts (for handling hot bowls)
- Something to wipe your hands. 

If you have newspapers or another material to cover your work surface, it can make cleaning up easier!
