課堂經歷
In this one-time drawing class, students will learn to draw a realistic Valentine portrait of a hedgehog, rose, and letter (using pastel chalk). Students are welcome to come to class with fun facts to share about hedgehogs or some of their favorite Valentine traditions! During class, I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and students is encouraged. I ask students questions throughout the lesson to check for student understanding. Students may also interact with each other if they want to share what they have learned during class. Students who enroll in this class should have basic drawing skills, like drawing and manipulating shapes with a pencil. Please check the "Learning Goals" section for more details on what students will specifically learn in this class.

1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a hedgehog (full body).
2. Students will learn techniques for blending, applying, and layering pastel chalk.
3. Students will learn techniques to create saturated colors using pastel chalk.
4. Students will learn techniques to create poky texture of a hedgehog using pastel chalk.
5. Students will learn techniques for drawing a realistic rose using pastel chalk.
6. Students will learn a few facts about hedgehogs.

Art Teacher 🎨 / Middle Grade Fantasy Author 📚/ Children's Book Illustrator 🐉
✨Welcome to my teacher page! ✨
After graduating with Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, I decided to make the leap of starting my author and illustrator career. Since then, I have written and illustrated my first middle grade fantasy book, Brush of Magic, with many more in the works!
Along with running my own art and book shop, I design and teach a variety of drawing and painting classes, ranging from realistic sketching, watercolor painting, fantasy drawing, and illustration. I have taught for about 9 years, 4 of which have been specific to art. I love the time I get to spend with my students, creating art, and chatting about books—especially if the books and art are whimsical or magical!
All the artwork, books, and stationary designs in my shop are created by me. I often find inspiration for my art and books through reading, spending time with my cats and dogs, and brainstorming imaginary creatures in my sketchbook.
