US History Herald: United States American History Refresher Review Middle High Perfect for summer or at the start of a new school adventure, this class will take your student through a refresher of sorts of United States history. Covering the major periods and events, this is a great class for a summer review or the end of the year condensed course. Already taken a U.S. course, but some of the details are foggy? Wanna make sure you are ready to go as you move into the next year or semester of history- This is the course to help you out. Each class, we will review a period or event in U.S. history- covering the main characters, incidents, causes, and effects. We will use this to connect the history of the United States together to create a vivid, singular story of grand proportions! This will be done using vivid class presentation, engaging discussion, and collaboration with peers. Students will leave class with a full review of American/United States history, allowing them to continue to thrive and grow in future classes. Weekly Topics Covered: Week 1 - Prehistory – European Exploration of the Americas and Settlement Week 2- Colonial America, 1607-1780s – The 13 Colonies Week 3 - The American Revolution – 1776-1791 Week 4- American Founding Documents and Government Structure Week 5 - American Expansion & President Thomas Jefferson Week 6- The Industrial Revolution Week 7- The Oregon Trail, The Annexation of Texas and the Mexican American War Week 8 - The Civil War Week 9- Reconstruction in the South Week 10- Expansion and Imperialism Week 11 - World War I Week 12- Roaring 20s Week 13- Great Depression and the New Deal Week 14 - World War II Week 15 - The Civil Rights Movement Week 16- The Cold War This class is designed to develop student's abilities to analyze and dissect specific issues and connect them with others within a larger scope of US history. Prior knowledge is not necessary- but it will help as this class does move a bit quick through American history. We are condensing an entire year of curriculum into 16 classes. This class is a great next step for those who have taken U.S. History but want to review the major content.

I have spent my life educating myself to ensure that my students receive the highest quality experience. I have a master’s degree in history and a master’s degree in education. I have been challenging and elevating students for over 10 years to delve deeply into the issues of our past and wrestle with the realities of our present and future. Each conversation will be open and honest but guided with the necessary care for students of this age. I believe it is our job as educators to not teach children what to think- but how to think and allow them to unearth the truths that are often hidden within the words of pages.
