In this twelve-week course, students will begin to explore the language and culture of Ancient Rome. We will meet bi-weekly for one hour of instruction. Contingent upon interest this term, I may continue next semester, as well, to further the students along this pathway we started together. I first learned Latin in primary school. As a linguist, Romance languages have been one of my areas of specialization, thus I have taught and conducted research in Latin for several decades.

If students are struggling and their work takes more than twenty-five minutes outside of class, I always instruct them to stop there and just bring what they have. I do not believe in excessive out-of-class workloads.Assessment

I have always based my Latin instruction on the Wheelock's Latin textbook.
