課堂經歷
In this weekly course that does not build on itself, students will come and participate in a circle time in French. The class will begin with quick introductions in English, and then we will switch over to learning in French. This class will be in about 75% French and 25% English. I believe it's important not to lose students so I will ask them questions like "Quel temps fait it ? How is the weather?" so they are able to follow along throughout the class. We will go over greetings, the song of the week, the animal of the day, the colour of the day, the date, and the weather in French. In each class we will highlight one animal and one colour. This class is a great compliment to my other circle time where we highlight one letter and one number per week. Students can drop in and out of class as needed. They will be introduced to words that begin with the letter of the week, and they will get to practice these words and simple sentences using the words. This is a short class that will involve students listening to and repeating words. There will be a PowerPoint, and will involve French and English for young learners. This class is not fully immersive. It will be about 75% in French. Students will receive an OPTIONAL colouring sheet to print during class. It is not required, but will be made available to students in the classroom the day before class to print. Our schedule will be as follows: Week of April 24: Red, dog Week of May 1: Orange, cat Week of May 8 : Yellow, chicken Week of May 15: Green, owl Week of May 22: Blue, fish Week of May 29: Purple, cow Week of June 5: Black, lion Week of June 12: White, horse Week of June 19: Pink, unicorn Week of June 26: Brown, turtle Week of July 3: Red, dog Week of July 10: Orange, cat Week of July 17: Yellow, chicken Week of July 24: Green, owl Week of July 31: Blue, fish Week of August 7: Purple, cow Week of August 14: Black, lion Week of August 21: White, horse Week of August 28: Pink, unicorn Week of September 4: Brown, turtle Repetition for language acquisition is key and will play a large part in this course, both in the form of speaking and singing (don't worry, you don't need to be a professional. It's just for fun!) This is a beginner level French class and a great way to help students with the transition to the transition to French immersion. In order for all students to hear me in class, I employ a strict muting policy. I will unmute students one at a time so they can work with me, and all students will have many opportunities to speak. Young students may need a parent to help them unmute. I go over the muting policy each class as a reminder to students. Additionally, due to Outschool policy, students must identify themselves on camera at least once at the beginning of class.

I grew up in a bilingual household here in Canada and we spoke both French and English growing up. Learning multiple languages is a great tool for world travelers, and it is a fantastic tool to stimulate your brain. I love speaking French and cannot wait to share my love of this language with you!
