The student will. . . 
1) learn to aurally identify the difference between a clean versus undefined articulation
2) understand the internal physiology of how to produce a clean articulation while maintaining a transparent tone
3) practice the skill of a clean articulation to both the beginning and the ending of the note
4) learn the techniques to transition through the different overtones of the instrument with both "tonguing" and "slurring" 
5) learn techniques to increase velocity without losing clarity of articulation

 The teacher has over 3 decades of experience as a beginning band instructor and private brass instrument teacher.  He performs on both the trumpet and trombone.

Students are expected to practice 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, in order to develop the skills taught in the class.  The students will play for the teacher and each other during each class.  
Class Notes and Exercises are provided by the teacher for each session.  
Written exercises will be linked to accompaniment tracks available on Youtube.com.

Learner progress is assessed through attentive participation and evidence of home practice through increased skill development. 
Students will either be recommended to enroll in the next course, repeat the course, or sign up for private lessons.

The teacher wrote and updated his own curriculum for this course.  He also supplies a list of videos on Youtube of professional trumpet players.  The videos have been screened to be age and content appropriate.
