This class will give young learners the opportunity to hone their early literacy, gross motor, and creative arts skills through participating in an interactive read-aloud, moving their bodies during a dance session, and completing their very own paper taco craft! Our class will begin with a song individually greeting each learner before moving into a brief counting activity to practice turn-taking and group participation. We will then enjoy a read-aloud of the book Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin, take a quick movement break by dancing together to the song It's Raining Tacos by Parry Gripp, and settle down to work on creating our own paper taco crafts using writing implements, construction paper, scissors, and glue. I value an emergent teaching style, in which I respond to student interests and preferences as much as possible during the course of each session. As such, the order and content of each activity may be modified to ensure that each young learner is as developmentally supported and intrinsically motivated as possible.
學習目標
-Students will actively listen to a piece of age-appropriate literature and engage in related discussion with prompting and support as needed during our read-aloud.
-Students will demonstrate fundamental movement patterns as set to rhythm during our dance activity.
-Students will complete an artistic work and discuss their choices, as related to their personal preferences and experiences, during our paper craft.

父母的引導和規範
***Please note: For optimal safety during the dance portion of our class, families should ensure students are prepared with the following:
-an open space, free of obstacles, for movement
-closed toe shoes, socks, or bare feet (no sandals or flip flops, please!)
-a water bottle
-family supervision, if family feels it is necessary
The dance portion will only last a total of 1-5 minutes, so students are free to clap or watch along if dancing is not an option. They may even choose to make a beloved toy dance!
***Please note: for optimal safety during the crafting portion of our class, families should ensure students are prepared with the following:
-safety scissors
-non-toxic, washable glue
-family supervision, if family feels it is necessary
If families choose to participate without scissors and glue, they may simply use paper and drawing implements to complete the craft.
供應清單
***Please note: If families choose to participate without scissors and glue, they may simply use blank paper and drawing implements to complete the craft. They may even choose to use other representational art materials, such as play dough! Otherwise, students are encouraged to attend class prepared with the following: -yellow, green, red, orange, and white paper -drawing implements (markers, crayons, pencils, etc.) -safety scissors -non-toxic, washable glue

碩士 在 教育 從 Wheelock College
I hold my MS in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College at Boston University, and I am professionally certified in Early Childhood, Moderate Disabilities, English as a Second Language, and Sheltered English Immersion in the state of Massachusetts. I have ten years of teaching experience at the early childhood level in a wide variety of racially, ethnically, linguistically, and neurologically diverse settings--lab, private, public, home-based, non-profit, co-op, and virtual--throughout the Greater Boston area.
As co-founder of the National SEED Project Emily Style so adeptly summarized in her 1988 essay "Curriculum as Window and Mirror", curriculum should function "both as window and as mirror, in order to reflect and reveal most accurately both a multicultural world and the student herself or himself". This means that it is intrinsically important for ALL educators--including those who may not be members of a marginalized group themselves--to expose every student, regardless of their personal identity markers, to a multiplicity of cultures and ways of being in the world. To ensure that I am up to this crucial task, I have continuously pursued and successfully completed the following graduate-level coursework related to multicultural, multilingual, inclusive, and antiracist instruction over the past seven years:
* Racial and Cultural Identities-Wheelock College at Boston University
* Introduction to Inclusive Early Childhood Education Settings-Wheelock College at Boston University
* Effective Sheltered English Instruction: Second Language Acquisition-Wheelock College at Boston University
* Impact of Special Needs: Early Childhood-Wheelock College at Boston University
* Mathematical Learning for Diverse Learners-Wheelock College at Boston University
* Becoming a More Equitable Educator: Mindsets and Practices-Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
