Course Content: This course will be an introduction to time management skills. Topics covered will include but are not limited to: Time tracking applications, focus and attention tools, the structure of time management, how to appropriately incorporate breaks, rewards and a punishment system, calendar and email management systems (specific to older students only), and assessment and evaluation accommodations to aid in time management (specific to older students but can apply to younger students that already have an understanding of this concept). Course Expectations: Time management system(s), Self-Assessment tools, and Implementation of effective practices to apply for the short and long term. Accommodations: If you need language accommodations, i.e. your native language isn't English, all arrangements must be done at least 2 weeks in advance prior to the beginning of the course. *The instructor knows American Sign Language, beginner level Spanish conversation and composition. If other languages (E.g. French, Italian, Asian, Eastern languages) are present, the instructor has beginner skill level in written (not conversation) French and Italian, but has no experience with other uses of languages* For all other accommodations, e.g. visual and audio, transcript/subtitles can be used in the classroom. Classroom Expectations: 1. Come to class prepared, on time, and respectful of your peers and the instructor. In the instance the instructor arrives to class more than 3 minutes late related or unrelated to an emergency, the instructor will send an email to parents that class will is either running late or will be rescheduled. 2. Temperature check: The instructor will check in with the student to ensure technical and non-technical issues are suitable for class. Technical rules: 1) The student will be muted after roll call and the introduction activity to avoid background noise that maybe disruptive and prevent speaking at the same time. 2) The instructor will use the Zoom annotation tool during lecture, if applicable. During this time, the participants' annotation feature will be disabled, if applicable. At the discretion of the instructor, the student will be able to use the annotation tool, if applicable. 3) Chat feature: The chat feature will be used for questions and answers. If you have a specific question, notify the instructor with your camera on and/or privately message the instructor in the chat. 4) If you experience wifi connectivity issues during class, immediately notify the instructor. 5) Classroom features: After the instructor has verified the identity of the student, it is preferred if the student can have their video camera on. However, if the student has special needs and/or technical issues arise, it is okay for the student to turn off their video. Use the raise hand feature in the "reactions" feature on Zoom, if applicable. The instructor will call on the student and unmute the student to share. In the instance the instructor overlooks the student that uses the raise hand feature, then it is okay for the student to send a message in the chat. Non-technical rules: 1) If the student comes to class unprepared and/or inattentive, the instructor will first unmute the student and ask the reasoning for not participating and if necessary, send a message using the chat feature. 2) If the student declines to respond or engage in class, the instructor will then explain Outschool's policy. 3) At the conclusion of the course, the instructor will follow up with the student to inquire about non-participation. In some cases, if the student refuses to do any of the above, the instructor will remove the student from the course and follow up with the parent. 1. Class introductions: The student and instructor will enter the virtual classroom with their video camera turned on and the mute feature enabled, if necessary to prevent background noise disturbances. 2. Ice-breaker/warm-up activity: Each participant will share 3 things about themselves: 2 truths, 1 lie. Once the lecture begins, the student will be muted. 3. Course Expectations & Procedures: Lecture, questions, answers, use of auxiliary aids (e.g. Zoom annotation tool, PowerPoint presentations, online videos, images, and live presenting), two (2) ten-minute breaks, break-out rooms (non-one-on-one course format only), share-time (individual and/or group), then close with final thoughts, questions, and discussions. 4. Time Management Instruction: The instructor will explain the lesson concepts in varied visual formats: PowerPoint, along with supplemental online platforms (E.g.YouTube). The chat feature will be enabled for questions and answers. A short break session of a mindfulness activity will be implemented. 5.
