Students embark on a “vowel voyage” where they learn to identify, pronounce, and use the vowels (A, E, I, O, U) and sometimes Y through direct instruction, songs, reading and group collaboration. I will teach this course as a presentation, with built in opportunities for practice and application. I believe in positive reinforcement, mindfulness and movement. I incorporate this into all of my lessons. Learners will get to interact with their peers during our daily class lighting shares, which build community. They will also get to participate in readings and group activities.

Identify the vowels A, E, I, O, U and Y.
Produce the short vowel sounds accurately in isolation and within simple words.
